Walking and Cycling

There are some wonderful walks and bicycle rides direct from Redwood Valley and we will lend you an Ordnance Survey map should you need one.

Following a stream through a valley leading to the enigmatic Radnor Forest, Water-Break-Its-Neck Falls is a stunning waterfall just a few miles from Redwood Valley.

We are also lucky to be just a short journey from the spectacular Offa’s Dyke and the moors and reservoirs of the Elan Valley.

Wild swimming and kayaking

Our closest spot for a dip or a paddle is just a 10 minute walk away, behind the Presteigne allotments on the river Lugg. For young children, there’s a lovely spot for a paddle and a picnic on the river Arrow just outside Pembridge. Whilst for those looking to swim on the wider, deeper Wye, Bredwardine is a 30 minute drive and the Warren, just outside Hay, is a 40 minute drive.

Canoes and kayaks can be hired from Glasbury and Hay on Wye. Paddle down stream stop for a picnic or at a riverside pub and get picked up at the other end.

Eating & Drinking

If you are cooking your own meals, Presteigne has an excellent greengrocer and fishmonger, a deli selling freshly baked bread, a local butcher, and two small local convenience stores. As for eating and drinking out, from the local chip shop and Chinese take away and pub grub, to sourdough pizza, tapas and more gourmet fair, we have something for every taste. We also have four pubs and an excellent wine bar for a well-deserved drink after your busy, or not so busy, day. We can provide you with more information once you arrive. If, however, you are keen to eat at the Michelin-starred Stagg Inn or at popular Daphne’s, Crocketts or the Cider Barn, we would recommend advance booking.
