Walking and Cycling
There are some wonderful walks and bicycle rides direct from Redwood Valley and we will lend you an Ordnance Survey map should you need one.
Following a stream through a valley leading to the enigmatic Radnor Forest, Water-Break-Its-Neck Falls is a stunning waterfall just a few miles from Redwood Valley.
We are also lucky to be just a short journey from the spectacular Offa’s Dyke and the moors and reservoirs of the Elan Valley.

Wild swimming and kayaking
Our closest spot for a dip or a paddle is just a 10 minute walk away, behind the Presteigne allotments on the river Lugg. For young children, there’s a lovely spot for a paddle and a picnic on the river Arrow just outside Pembridge. Whilst for those looking to swim on the wider, deeper Wye, Bredwardine is a 30 minute drive and the Warren, just outside Hay, is a 40 minute drive.
Canoes and kayaks can be hired from Glasbury and Hay on Wye. Paddle down stream stop for a picnic or at a riverside pub and get picked up at the other end.
HISTORy and Gardens
Close by are numerous sites of historical interest such as the Judge’s Lodging in Presteigne, Hampton Court Castle, the mediaeval village of Pembridge, several National Trust properties, and a variety of beautiful local gardens including Hergestcroft and Westonbury Mill Water Gardens.
THE ARTS
Mid Border Arts – runs a rich variety of exhibitions, music and theatre throughout the year at the Assembly Rooms in Presteigne.
The Presteigne Festival is a world-class classical music festival promoting musical innovation. The festival spans the August bank holiday weekend.
Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts is held each May and makes an easy daytrip from Redwood Valley.
There are numerous galleries local galleries, including the Sidney Nolan Trust which also offers workshops in drawing, ceramics and printmaking.
Relaxation
A range of wonderful therapies can be booked at The Retreat in Presteigne.
